The Poetry Lab!


Beginning Dec. 4, 2009, a new series began in the art incubator known as The Soundry in Vienna, VA. Bringing together talent from the DC region with poets from as far away as Indiana, the Poetry Lab has quickly moved to establish itself as an outpost for experimental presentation and fluid creative expression. Since the first event, the space has welcomed Michael Gushue, C L Bledsoe, Tony Mancus, Paul Siegell, Daniel Collins, Joseph Kershbaum and Tony Brewer from the Reservoir Dogwoods, and many others.

The Poetry Lab takes the wildly creative environment of the Soundry and attempts to channel Bertolt Brecht, John Cage, and Laurie Anderson; allowing for poets to try out new material and present their work as they might never have before. Part Black Box, part "Happening", part live-stream media event; The Poetry Lab reaches beyond the expected and the commonplace with poetry presentation and performance.
