fra ctur ede velo pm ent is the latest collection of poems by stevenallenmay in which he continues to explore the universe of fragmentation that surrounds our being, and examines the liberating and stifling effects of our technologic information glut. This work was informed and inspired by the type/writing of E. E. Cummings and the further exploration into the spacial possibilities of the Concrete poets, in particular the mostly forgotten afro-american poet, Norman H. Pritchard. The pieces in this collection came from bits of conversation, from collages, from spray-painted landscapes and business signs; with intentional and accidental purpose. They are Polariod snapshots rather than film. They capture snippets of existence. stevenallenmay is a poet, performance artist, events coordinator, and experimenter with language and technology. Creator of Bardfest in Berks County, PA and founder of Berks Bards, s – a – m also co-founded Plan B Press in 1998. He is the author of Plastic Sunrise (2003) and the assembler of Spontaneous Chili (2001) and has been published in various print and electronic medium. He is a recent graduate of George Mason University with a Masters Degree in Arts Management. typical night in most ways typical night, in most ways..... the apparent division between animal mineral chemical split between cut-up machine triviality and the apparent division between animal mineral and out right lie she said - in anger that all the good men lie between the apparent divisions of animal chemical and cologne maybe aftershave but never do they know the proper use of mineral water. the apparent division of labor penal systems and baseball leagues have many foreigners questioning our motives, as though they wouldn't otherwise ask the mirror who is on first....deciphering the punchline without blood. these things bubble in my brain when dining with my woman friend who is thinking of the division apparent between mineral chemical and animal, which does not include or otherwise justify the death chamber except to execute Joan of Arc in the most humane way we know. the rest of the evening was spent counting champagne bubbles typical night, in most ways.... |
